چکیده

We consider a direct-sequence spread-spectrum multipleaccess network. It is widely known that the probability of symbol error in such a network is dependent on the carrier and spreading code chip phases of the interfering terminals with respect to the signal of interest. As a result, for a given total interference power, the performance is worse for the case of one strong interferer when compared to the case of many weak interferers where the Gaussian assumption on the multiple-access interference holds. We assume a random spreading code model and show that if there is an offset on the carrier and spreading code frequencies of the interfering signals relative to the signal of interest, the above difference in performance between the cases of a set of balanced and a set of unbalanced interferers is drastically reduced. The result is that subject to such frequency offsets we may make the Gaussian assumption on the interference power regardless of whether it is composed of one strong interferer or many weak interferers of the same total power. In a network it may be desirable to actually force the offsets by putting a slight offset on the clock oscillators of the various transmitters. The performance parameter is the variation of the noise variance for a given expected value of the total interference power. We show that to achieve a small variation of the noise variance, the spreading code and carrier offset frequencies should be greater than

Performance of low-complexity code acquisition for direct-sequence spread spectrum systems

The authors consider a low-complexity technique for direct-sequence spread spectrum code acquisition. They present performance analysis in Rayleigh fading channels, and with carrier frequency offset in the receiver. They derive analytical expressions for acquisition probabilities, and use them to determine the mean and variance of the acquisition time. It is shown that acceptable performance ca...

Performance Analysis of DS Spread Spectrum System in Multiple Narrowband Interference

The investigation of spectrum overlay of a Spread Spectrum system on the existing narrowband FM broadcasting system is presented. The Spread Spectrum (SS) system is assumed to utilize direct sequence (DS) spreading, using maximal length pseudorandom sequences with long spreading codes. We studied the performance analysis of the SS system due to the overlaying analog FM system, consisting of mul...

A Novel Multi-user Detection Approach on Fluctuations of Autocorrelation Estimators in Non-Cooperative Communication

Recently, blind multi-user detection has become an important topic in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) signals are well-known due to their low probability of detection, and secure communication. In this article, the problem of blind multi-user detection is studied in variable processing gain direct-sequence code division multiple access (VPG D...

Block Interleaved Frequency Division Multiple Access for Power Efficiency, Robustness, Flexibility, and Scalability

The multiple access solution in an IMT-Advanced mobile radio system has to meet challenging requirements such as high throughput, low delays, high flexibility, good robustness, low computational complexity and a high power efficiency, especially in the uplink. In this paper a novel multiple access scheme for uplinks denoted as B-IFDMA is presented. We show that this scheme is able to provide eq...

Optimum decoder for multiplicative spread spectrum image watermarking with Laplacian modeling

This paper investigates the multiplicative spread spectrum watermarking method for the image. The information bit is spreaded into middle-frequency Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) coefficients of each block of an image using a generated pseudo-random sequence. Unlike the conventional signal modeling, we suppose that both signal and noise are distributed with Laplacian distribution, because the ...
